An Overview of Solidarity Funds in Belgium, Germany and The Netherlands for Scholars at Risk
The purpose of this project is to increase the awareness of administrative, academic and local authorities about scholars in danger across the world. This project will also inform scholars/supervisors and administrative/academic authorities about current fellowships programs for scholars at risk in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. In addition, it will provide a wide comparison related to the fellowship programs among three countries with different activities (the introductions of solidarity funds, statistical analyses, requirements of fellowship programs, and experiences of scholars and supervisors, etc.).
This workshop will consist of three sessions. At the beginning of each session, fellowship programs’ coordinators will inform about each program, their criteria, and some statistical information. At the end of sessions, all requirements (assessment criteria), and annual application and acceptance numbers of each fellowship program will be compared. Considering the benefits and challenges of each fellowship program, useful suggestions, comments and discussions will be also shared with administrative and academic authorities.
