Would you like to represent ULB at the next UNICA student conference?

Publié le 19 mars 2021 Mis à jour le 19 mars 2021

Every two years UNICA, the Network of Universities from the Capitals of Europe, organizes a conference giving students from across Europe the opportunity to meet and share their views on issues related to higher education.

Due to the sanitary situation, this year’s student conference will not take place in Lisbon as originally planned but will be held on-line from July 19th until July 21st 2021. Entitled Transforming Your University in the post-Covid19 age, the event will allow participants to discuss 10 sub-topics:
  • Science in the city
  • Equal, diverse and inclusive universities
  • Europe’s position in world’s politics
  • Social media and European societies
  • More sustainable societies: the role of universities
  • International students: engaging with local communities
  • How can universities and cities work together to improve students’ life?
  • Formal and informal learning: innovative pedagogical approaches prompted by the Covid19 crisis
  • Inter-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary education
  • Jobs in the digital society: the role of universities
A delegation of students from ULB and VUB (5 from each institution) will be selected to represent Brussels under the supervision of an academic tutor. Each student will be asked to choose one of the sub-topics and prepare a short abstract with his or her opinion and ideas. The group will also jointly elaborate a 1-minute video related to the general subject of the conference. Pre-conference online activities will be proposed to the students from mid-April to early July 2021. During the event itself, student delegates will take part in plenary sessions and thematic workshops on the sub-topic they have chosen. The ultimate goal is to come up with recommendations that will help UNICA member universities shape their future policies.

Who can apply?

BA3, MA2 or PhD students from any faculty, fluent in English.

Send an e-mail to yvon.molinghen@ulb.be, the UNICA contact person at the International Office of ULB, with your name, faculty, discipline and level of study. Attach a motivation letter and a short CV, both in English. The deadline is Monday 29 March 2021. Selected students will be notified by e-mail in early April.
