AspirE conference : “Migration decision-making in Asia-Europe social spaces”
Over the past three years, 13 research teams across Europe and Asia have explored the motivations, timing, and conditions of (re)migration or settlement, as well as how migration regimes shape these dynamics within the framework of the EU-funded project AspirE. On 11 and 12 December, the team will present overall findings, as well as showcase an exhibition of fieldwork materials and screen short documentaries.
Led by Asuncion Fresnoza-Flot, AspirE has worked to humanise the study of migration between Asia and Europe over the past years, combining video diaries, in-depth interviews, and collaborative methods to gain fresh insights into the aspirations and lived experiences of migrants. The final conference will bring together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and community voices to reflect on our findings, discuss their broader implications, and explore future directions. The programme will feature:
- Presentations of AspirE’s research outcomes
 - Roundtable discussions with our sister projects
 - An exhibition showcasing materials collected during the project
 - Short documentaries produced by local teams based in Thailand and Portugal
 - Opportunities for dialogue and networking
